In order to apply for your teacher certification in Florida, you will need to pass the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations–FTCE. Basic qualifications for admissions include:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Moreland University requires that you have at minimum a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) to enroll in our program. An official transcript will be required at the time of admission. If you received your undergraduate degree from a country other than the U.S., you will need to have it certified by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member agency.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA from your Bachelor’s degree
Candidates wanting to enroll in our TEACH-NOW program must have earned a 3.0 GPA or meet the threshold for GPA exemption. GPA exemptions are provided to candidates who have two or more years of teaching experience, completed a master’s degree or higher, received their degree more than 10 years ago, or have a letter of recommendation attesting to their academic integrity.
- English Proficiency
Moreland University asks all of its candidates to exhibit English proficiency through a written sample. This writing sample also works to show the candidates’ passion and enthusiasm for helping young people learn, grow, and develop.
- Valid Status of Eligibility (SOE) from the Florida Department of Education
You must hold a valid Status of Eligibility (SOE) from the Florida Department of Education that indicates that you are eligible for certification in Florida in a subject area and grade level. This form must read “You are eligible.”
